I ran today with an audiobook instead of random cardio station on Pandora (http://www.pandora.com/stations/play/733319259225910598)
I haven't kept up with Stephen King like I used to, so picked up "11-22-63". Nice start so far! I need to modify Runkeeper to keep its stupid mouth shut though! Really annoying when the "coach" comes on for 5 minute distance updates.
It didn't bother me when listening to mindless "unts-unts-WUBWUBWUB" but now when I'm engaged in a story, Its almost as bad as someone talking in a movie theater.

The running has been going well. I've been pretty consistent with 5+ mile runs every other day. I still haven't signed up for a marathon, or adopted a training plan.
I've been enjoying Pandora's new workout genre stations on my iPhone. I may go back to this station, but enjoying something different for now.
My 8 yr old has been running with me about once a week, and I really enjoy it. I wish I could run with super-wife more often, I really enjoy that when we get a chance. Running with someone else has a whole different feel to it, running with a loved one is just plain great.

This has to be the coolest idea for a running app I've ever heard of. http://kck.st/rf2CRI

Running with the kiddos
The Boys have been running with me the last few times. Its been a blast! They both now have "running gear" which includes some shoes, pants and shirt that are like Daddy's. I noticed that running with someone has a whole different dynamic that's really enjoyable. My 8 yr. old is a chatter box, so its non-stop talking while running, but I definitely feel different vs. solo running.
This is the marathon I've been planning on signing up for. Note the date. If my beard grows for more than a year, I may trip on it while running.
Another possibility recommended by Ace is the Ft. Collins Marathon. If I do this one, it means training through the winter, which does not sound appealing to me.
I ran in Las Vegas. Sort of. I was there for a tech conference, and hit the treadmill for 30 mins. /shudder This is why I do not want to train through the winter.

I just got a Withings WiFi body scale. The idea is pretty cool! It can integrate with Loseit.com and keeps a running total of your weight, fat, bmi, and shows a graph as you progress. After batteries were inserted, the USB cable was attached for initial setup and join of network. Its now sitting happily in the bathroom, just waiting to measure someone and dole out judgement in the form of cold hard numbers.
I joked with superwife that I hope it doesn't give audible voice prompts. I was afraid the first thing it would say once I stepped on it would be "One person at a time please."
A vendor brought Qdoba burritos for a meeting, and I scarfed one down. Tonight as I was entering the numbers into loseit.com, I realized that that one burrito has my full day's calorie count.
Since I ran yesterday, I don't want to run today, so maybe I'll take a walk to burn a few calories so I can squeeze in a peanut for dinner.

Been running on and off, just had no motivation to blog about it.I'm going to start training for a marathon now, and figured I better start documenting my experiences again!
I'm still running in VFFs, and enjoying zero knee pain while doing so. I swap out the regular running shoes now and then because I still get heel pain when I run too long in the Five Fingers.
I havent signed up for the marathon, and dont have a real plan yet, but I'm ready!

Gorilla feet
I've been running! My last run with the Nike+ sensor was July 12. Since then, I've been running in my furry new pair of Vibram Five Fingers KSO Treks!
Since I had the shin splints in December, and a history of other complaints I had been researching ways to help. The option that seemed most favorable was bionic implants! Unfortunately, The only source for the hardware was an eBay seller named karveUPstuff and I didn't get any warm fuzzies there.
The next most appealing option was barefoot running. I had been reading about this for a while, and once I learned of the VFFs, I decided to shop around and take the plunge. I found a pair of the Trek's at an authorized seller for significantly less than other places. I've been running pretty consistently (every other day) since they arrived, and so far, I really enjoy them!
I started up very easy after reading that many people over do it when they first try the Vibrams. I started all the way back at the couch to 5k run #1. Every other day I'd check pain levels, muscle soreness, etc. And if all was well, skip ahead! The last couple of runs were well into the gateway to 8k training (about an hour long), and while my legs and body still felt great, I started to develop a few blisters and some pain in the top of my foot. Last night, I tried 4 minute running intervals with 1 minute walks, and went out for about an hour. Unfortunately the pain was back in full force. I'll take today off. For the next run I'll scale back the distance and see how things go.
